The Faith of Philosophers

Abstract

In this paper, the author focuses on two main claims and presents historical evidence for them. The first is that the development of different philosophies in the early centuries of the history of the Islamic world is rooted in foreigners’ incompetence in facing the monotheistic Quranic philosophy. They have purposefully attempted to overthrow the vitalizing teaching of Islam. This is to be discussed in the light of the first three centuries in the history of Islam. The second claimis that most Islamic philosophers and scholars. Their confessions and comments indicate that their faith was not rooted in alternative philosophies and that Quran and traditions are the only sources to which they were faithful.
