Abstract

The verses of the Holy Quran and the traditions of immaculate Imams have affected the development and variety of the beliefs of muslim thinkers. Many of them have used these sources in different ways. Sometimes they have used them as pieces of evidence and sometimes as the philosophical foundation of their arguments. As an example, the classical works of Rūdaki and other contemporary adaptations of Quranic verses in poetry have drawn upon these sources. The distinguishing feature of the works of Bābā Afzal Kāshāni is the philosophical and rheforical dimension. He has used Quranic verses in direct or indirect relation with his ideas. This paper focuses on his use of Quranic teachings in relation to the concept of the self. The main argument of the paperin that Bābā Afzal has used Quranic verses as the foundation of his work like other Muslim scholars such as Khājeh Nasir Toosi.
