Abstract

Feiz Kashani was a prolific Shiite scholar who wrote his works on different Islamic Topics. He worked in both gonstic and traditionist schools. In his youth, he defended the Sufis while not totally dismissing the traditionists. Later in life he opted more for the traditionist school. At his old age, he compiled traditions and parted with the gonstics. He paid attention to the tree elements of wisdom, intuition, and tradition in discovering truth and referred to them in his works on interpretation. Although he took a traditionist approach n his works, he never lost view of wisdom and principles of logical reasoning and questioned the traditions that seemed contrary to wisdom. He lived in the age of traditionists. However, his attention to the unambiguous in the quran and his beliefs in both the surface and the deep meanings of words made his interpretive work unique, Feiz believes that many traditions originated because of the exigencies of a given period.
