Abstract

Assistant Professor at the University of Kashan Seyyed Abu al-Reza Ravandi is a Persian scholar in the sixth century (A.H.) who has composed some Arabic poems. Unfortunately, all his aluable works in subjects like religious jurisprudence, interpretation of Quran, literature etc. are got lost and only the Divan, i.e. his collection of poems is remained. Studying his Divan and some elated literary sources, this article shows that Abu Reza Ravandi is an heir of Arabic poetical stagnation, and follows the style of traditional Arabic poem. Following the ancients in their method of poetic imagery, quotation, adaptation, he shows his literary art in his own poems in which he insists on his belief regarding philanthropy, altruism, inclination to Shiism and defending its principles. We refer to one of his odes as a valuable document about the ancient history of Kashan, in which he describes the invasion of Seljukian Malek Shah’s soldiers to the area of Kashan, and their savagery, praises the resistance of two great people of city against them.
