The Reflection of the Traditional Architecture of Kashan in the Poems of Sepehri

Abstract

One of the important characteristics of Sepehri’s poetry is the influence of native elements of his birthplace, Kashan, on his poems. Kashan is located in a dry, warm, and desert area which has special and unique characteristics and conditions. As his poems, writings, letters, and memories narrated by his family and intimate friends show, Sepehri loved his place of birth and living so much. In his poems, he repeatedly refers to the native elements of his hometown. Sepehri’s poetry is a mirror in which one can see the historical and natural views and perspectives, handicrafts, animals, especially birds, the plants and the flowers of the desert area of Kashan . One of the native elements displayed completely in Sepehri’s poetry is the traditional architecture of Kashan . The present article seeks to re-know the phonomena of the traditional architecture of Kashan in poetical Eight Books of Sepehri, and to survey the interpretations and images that the poet has made with these native elements.
