The Situation of the Jews of Kashan in the Period of Afshāriyyeh and Zandiyyeh

Abstract

Kashan's Jewish history is an integral part of Kashan's history, and its accurate understanding can give a clear cultural and sociological picture of the region's history. Also, the Jewish history of Kashan is an important part of Iranian Jewish history, which has previously been scattered among the works of historians and travelers and in the minds of residents and passersby.
This article covers the analysis of the Kashan Jews after the demise of the Safavid dynasty, the Afghan invasion, and the rule of the Afsharid and Zand dynasties, i.e. about six decades (1148-1209 A.H./ 1735-1794 A.D.). The subject of this research is the life of the Jewish society in a religious city, which has played an active role in its political and social life despite a few of adversities, and its purpose is to report and analyses cultural, economic, social and cultural efforts of this society. It also reviews how the of prosperity and development of economic, social, and especially development of religious education happened until the arrival of "Small Jerusalem", and also studies their interaction with the Muslim majority and the well-thought scholars of Kashan and finally, studies the end of this period.
