Background and purpose: crime as a social phenomenon that occurs in the social environment is the actual state of behavior. With this description, "tendency to commit crime" is a potential state of behavior that has not come to the fore and has not been actualized. This intellectual effort aims to investigate the role of social factors affecting the tendency to commit crime among youth, and tries to show that young people tend to commit crime under the influence of which social factors.
Method: This research, from a methodological perspective, falls under the paradigm of positivism, based on a deductive strategy and a quantitative outlook. It employs a descriptive-correlational method with a cross-sectional approach and an applied purpose, specifically utilizing a survey research method. The statistical population of this study consisted of 520 students from Kashan University in the year 1401 (2022-2023). SPSS23 software was employed for both descriptive and inferential data analysis.
Findings and Results: Overall, the findings of the research and the results of the related statistical activities confirm the existence of a significant relationship and correlation between the variables. This relationship is shown to be negative and inverse for each of the variables: social understanding of state-nation, social security, national identity, social belonging, adherence to law, political participation, social cohesion, and institutional trust with the tendency toward committing crimes, with correlation coefficients of r=** -0.162, r=**-0.436, r=** -0.220, r=**-0.487, r=** -0.006, r=**-0.136, r=**-0.196, and r=**-0.247, respectively.
